Charles J. Prorok has been practicing law in the Winnebago County area for 37 years. The first 30 years of Mr. Prorok’s career was devoted to representing the citizens of Winnebago County as an Assistant State’s Attorney. As an Assistant State’s Attorney Mr. Prorok was Chief of the Civil Division of the State’s Attorney’s Office, representing the County of Winnebago and its appointed and elected officials in State and Federal Court. Mr. Prorok also prosecuted criminal cases with over 100 felony jury trials including several for First Degree Murder. Mr. Prorok also handled a number of appeals before all levels of appellate courts in both the State and Federal systems including briefing a case that was heard by the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Prorok is also a community leader who has served on many boards, volunteered his time for a variety of charitable organizations and has been a candidate for public office on two occasions.
In private practice Mr. Prorok has focused his practice in the areas of labor and employment, criminal defense, election law and local government law.
